Give it enough time to become real.
Set aside a period in which this is the only thing you are doing. You do not need special objects, a particular room or another person present. Read the question slowly. Do the public act. Write something down if it helps you keep the answer honest.
The observance is complete when you have actually attended to what it asks. There is no attendance score, spiritual credit or requirement to report what happened.
