Accounts and membership
Member and Supporting Member are administrative access and billing categories. A larger financial contribution provides no greater authority or influence over others.
This notice describes the systems actually used by The Continuance: membership and account records, email, purchases, first-party analytics and the choices available to you.
The website needs some information to operate accounts, payments, security and requested services. Other information, including non-essential analytics, is used only under the privacy choice shown on the site.
Member and Supporting Member are administrative access and billing categories. A larger financial contribution provides no greater authority or influence over others.
Material saved in My Record belongs to your private member account. It is not automatically submitted to the Continuance for publication or review. A contribution is shared only when you deliberately use the separate Participate route.
The general mailing list is held by the Continuance in WordPress. It includes people who explicitly join the mailing list and, where appropriate, members who have chosen general Continuance email. SendPulse is used as an email transport service, not as the Continuance's master audience database. General email has its own unsubscribe and can be stopped without stopping Membership Year, Calendar, Weekly Record or essential account/service messages.
Membership Year, Weekly Record and Calendar email preferences are controlled separately in the member Account area. Essential messages about account access, security, payment, failed payment, cancellation or other necessary membership administration may still be sent when required to operate the service.
If you allow analytics, the site records first-party information such as pages visited, separate visits, referral and campaign information, device/browser type, scroll depth, active time and on-site actions such as important links or checkout starts. Form tracking records that a form was started or submitted, not the contents typed into form fields.
A random first-party visitor identifier is used so the site can recognise when the same browser returns in a later visit. It is not a fingerprint and does not identify a person by itself.
For analytics, the visitor's network address may be used briefly to derive an approximate country, region and city using a GeoLite2 City database stored on this server. The analytics system stores the derived location, not the visitor's IP address. City-level geolocation is approximate and should not be treated as an exact address.
When analytics are allowed, the browser may store a first-party visitor identifier for up to one year and a short-lived session identifier. Campaign attribution may also use first-party cookies so a visit can be connected to the link or campaign that brought it to the site.
Analytics records are retained for the period configured in Continuance Analytics, currently 730 days, and the site removes analytics records beyond that period through a scheduled cleanup.
If Microsoft Clarity is enabled on the site and analytics have been allowed, the Continuance analytics system may pass its random visitor and session identifiers to Clarity so first-party journey records can be compared with Clarity's session information. Clarity is a separate Microsoft service and is subject to Microsoft's own privacy terms.
SureCart is used for checkout and order handling, with the payment providers configured through it processing payment details. The Continuance stores the order, membership or donation information needed for fulfilment, access, accounting and customer service. The site does not intentionally store full payment-card numbers.
Some cookies or similar storage are necessary for login, security, checkout and remembering privacy choices. Non-essential Continuance analytics does not start until analytics has been allowed when consent mode is enabled.
You may ask about personal information held about you, request correction, or request deletion where applicable. Some records may need to be retained for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention or legitimate operational reasons. Members can export their private My Record material directly from the Account area.
The public site is not designed to profile children or invite unnecessary personal information from them. Any future service specifically directed to children requires separate age-appropriate privacy and safeguarding design.
